Zuma's lawyers argued that the DA had already acknowledged this and, on that basis, was not entitled to any record of the decision.
The high court in Pretoria on Thursday gave President Jacob Zuma one week to say why he fired his finance and deputy finance minsters in late March - and so gave Zuma an unenviable choice: admit he used an irregular (and possibly illegal) "intelligence report" in making that decision, or admit he lied to alliance partners about his reasons.
Sitting in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Thursday, and after listening to arguments, Vally said he would give reasons for the ruling next Tuesday.
"We expect that document to be part of the record", said Selfe, referring to the intelligence report.
In answering affidavits, Zuma said the DA's application was an abuse of court processes, which was also misconceived and without any merit whatsoever.
Ramaphosa usually publicly backs Zuma and his criticism of Gordhan's sacking was a sign of deepening divisions in the ruling African National Congress that are likely to worsen until the party elects a new leader in December.

He added that it was in exercise of his powers per the constitution that deserved protection.
A legal review could potentially find Mr Zuma's reasoning for the reshuffle unlawful, which is what the DA wants.
Selfe said the DA believes that Zuma's decision should be set aside as it does not meet the requirements of rationality and was therefore illegal.
"The appointment of Ministers and Deputies as well as reshuffling of Cabinet is a discretionary and political decision of the President of the Republic derived from the Constitution, hence we urge the President to appeal this judgment", says Kodwa.
The reshuffle caused the rand currency to plummet and the country's sovereign credit rating was downgraded to "junk status" by global agencies Standard & Poor's and Fitch.
Kodwa said Zuma has no obligation to provide reasons to anyone for changes he makes to his Cabinet.
