The gunman who terrorized Phoenix past year with a series of seemingly random shootings - killing nine people in four months - is behind bars, police said Monday.
A man was arrested Monday in a string of serial killings that terrified a Phoenix neighborhood past year, a huge break in a case that involved nine deaths and a dozen separate shootings.
Williams announced Saucedo has been linked to eight other shootings, bringing to nine the total number of killings investigators linked to him.
Police say one of the nine people was a 61-year-old man killed in August 2015 whom Saucedo knew through his mother.
Authorities on Monday said Aaron Saucedo faces homicide charges in connection with a case police have said was the work of a serial killer.
"They had a clear mission: bring this killer to justice and get it right".
Williams announces, Monday, May 8, 2017, in Phoenix, the arrest of 23-year-old Aaron Juan Saucedo in connection with the serial street shootings that terrorized the Phoenix area over four months in 2016.
They sifted through more than 3,000 tips before getting a lead about Saucedo.
Police gave few details on how they linked Saucedo to the killings and they did not say why the attacks stopped last July.

The suspect then went on a killing spree from March of a year ago through July, police said.
"I'm really just shocked", she said.
The relatives of two victims in a serial shooting case that Phoenix police say they've solved say they're relieved but hurting emotionally.
Gisela Castro, the mother of shooting victim Manuel Castro-Garcia, said news of the arrest felt like she was reliving the day she was told her son had been killed.
Police said they have not identified a motive but believe Saucedo acted alone.
"When they showed me the picture, I did get a little chills", he said.
The next shooting didn't happen until April 1, 2016, when Verdugo-Sanchez was fatally shot.
Nobody was killed in those shootings, in which about a dozen vehicles on the interstate outside the city were shot between August 29 and September 10.
Stefanie Ellis, 33, her 12-year-old daughter, Maleah, and a friend, Angela Linner, 31, were killed outside their home on June 12, 2016. In the most recent attack on July 11, 2016, a 21-year-old man and his 4-year-old nephew escaped injury after the gunman shot at a vehicle they were sitting in.
