Collins held a closed-door meeting with his team before Sunday's game to talk about the penalty. The suspension began Saturday, general manager Sandy Alderson said Sunday.
Collins said the easiest path forward was to keep Harvey on his regular rotation turn, which comes up Friday.
The Mets and Harvey are clearly not on the same page in the macro or micro sense of the term, whether things went down this weekend exactly like Harvey said or not.
Gotham's Dark Knight has become its Joker with the recent happenings involving New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey. The Mets managed only one hit in the game, as they were shut down by Jose Urena.
Later, after team trainer Ray Ramirez was unsuccessful in reaching Harvey to check on his condition, the Mets dispatched two team security officials to the pitcher's Greenwich Village apartment to ensure he didn't need emergency medical assistance. The Mets claimed LHP Tommy Milone off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers and transferred RHP Noah Syndergaard (strained right lat muscle) from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Speaking of the New York Mets, they are definitely in the latter category.

Far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen tweeted: "This is the sort of mess. that I no longer want to see on our streets". Varoufakis said Macron was "the only minister in Europe who did everything possible to help us" during the 2015 debt crisis.
Collins indicated that he was aware that a suspension could be on the horizon for Harvey.
"We don't think about it because anything could happen", Urena said. Harvey apologized and was fined but offered no explanation. The Mets sent further texts and never heard back from the righty, which is why they sent security to his apartment.
While injuries are certainly a part of Harvey's decline, the 28-year-old should still be able to get things done on the mound.
Although the team was involved in an embarrassing incident on Friday night in which a sex toy in the locker of catcher Kevin Plawecki was shown in the background of a photo tweeted by the team, Newsday's Marc Carig and others reported that the suspension was unrelated. It was his first major league appearance since April 15, 2015, and his first big-league start since April 25, 2012. He made several stops en route to NY and took an overnight flight, arriving at Citi Field straight from the airport around 8:45 a.m.
Just ask Giancarlo Stanton and the Marlins, who went to town on Harvey's replacement in a 7-0 victory over the Mets.
Collins did say that rules had been broken and the organization took a stance. "People make mistakes. There are team rules, and when team rules are broken there are consequences that have to be served, and obviously that's happening".
