These new, more powerful iMacs represent Apple making good on a vow to introduce PCs that cater to the professional market.
The 27.5-inch Retina iMac starting price is unchanged at Rs. 1,48,900, while the two higher-end configurations are expensive by Rs. 1,000 each at Rs. 1,65,900, and Rs. 1,89,900 respectively.
Intel Iris Plus Graphics for entry-level iMacs means performance will be up to 80 percent faster than the previous generation. Both will get two USB-C connectors with Thunderbolt 3.
The displays that sit front and center on the iMac are also being improved, with brighter 500 nit displays and 10-bit dithering, which supports up to a billion colors. It works more smoothly with 4K video, too, but since the MacBook's display isn't that sharp, those increases will likely go unnoticed by the majority of buyers.
Apple's Fusion Drive - Apple's take on hard drive/solid-state drive hybrid storage - is also coming standard to all 27-inch iMacs, and is an option available on 21-inch models.
