Yadav was accompanied by suspended JD (U) Rajya Sabha MP Ali Anwar.
Miffed by the participation of Sharad Yadav in Lalu Prasad Yadav's grand show of strength - dubbed as "BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao" rally - senior JD (U) leader K C Tyagi said his party would appeal Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to consider revoking House membership of Sharad.
"It is a government at the Centre of the agencies, by the agencies and for the agencies...they use agencies to terrorise people whoever dares to speak against them", said Ms. Bannerjee. Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul and BSP chief Mayawati did not attend the rally. In his statement to the Times of India Tyadi said "Despite being in Patna, Sharad Yadav didn't take part in party's national executive meet and if he goes on to take part in a political rally convened by the rival party, it will be considered that he has voluntarily given up the party membership".
Lalu Yadav embraced Sharad Yadav on the dais while welcoming him.
Leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress general secretary C.P. Joshi were present at the rally.

"I was not ready to declare Nitish Kumar the chief ministerial candidate due to his track record of betraying... it was the then Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav who persuaded me to agree to his name for the post". He added that the robbery of people's mandate will never let Nitish have a sound sleep and that Kumar doesn't have the courage to face the public, Indian Express reported.
The rally would be an important event to oust the BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha poll. He said this rally will again prove that Lalu is the "only mass leader" in Bihar and his social support base is still intact.
