Washington Redskins safety Su'a Cravens is only 22 years old, making him one of the youngest players in the NFL, so it was a bit jarring Sunday when the Washington Post reported that Cravens had to be talked out of retiring from football. According to the Washington Post's Mike Jones, Washington placed Cravens on the non-football exempt list, and he's expected to miss at least a month of action.
A second-round pick from USC in the 2016 NFL Draft, Cravens dealt with torn biceps and a concussion last season.
Should Cravens decide to walk away from football, he would not be the first to retire at a young age - but he might be the youngest NFL player to do so.
Washington, which now is figuring out what list to place Cravens on this week, did not respond to questions about the safety. "I'll try to talk to him later on, tell him I'm praying for him, but I'm going straight to the iPad and watching Philly".

A change in law after William and Kate Wednesday gave women the same rights of accession to the throne as men. The royal family is growing! Kate thanked the well-wisher for the present and turned to William.
One person who played with Cravens in the past and considers him a friend said he was not surprised when he heard the news Sunday. "I think I need to follow what makes me happy, get my mental right, my well-being right and my family right". Either way my response is the same to both groups, I love yal (sic) and thank yal.
His binary distinction between positive and negative suggests that fans, friends, family and/or teammates either understand and support his side (which has not been explained) or become the enemy. An anonymous former teammate of Cravens' told ESPN that the safety has lost his love for the game. "Hopefully he'll deal with what he has to deal with and be back out here".
Instead of looking at just the player here, we have to look at the situation surrounding said player. "There's some volatile people in that defensive back room from time to time and he's a calming guy, if you can believe that".
